Femi Kuti — Live at the Shrine 9 January 05
Section: article
Categories: Film / dvd-mine
This documentary revolves around a weekly “Sunday Jump” concert at the Africa Shrine, an old, fixed up warehouse in Lagos, Nigeria, where Femi Anikulapo Kuti, the oldest son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, lives and performs. One song, ’97, about the Kuti family and named for the year in which Fela died, is particularly powerful and beautiful.
The film includes some footage of Fela performing and speaking.
In the 1980s I had the pleasure of seeing Fela Kuti in concert in the Stadthalle, Offenbach, Germany.
